Financial Controller
at Robert Walters in London (Published at 06-09-2011)
Our client is an established West End based hedge fund with over $10 billion under management. They have a broad range of investment activity that covers credit, commodities fixed income, foreign exchange, equities, emerging markets, and associated derivatives. They are looking for a Financial Controller to oversee both corporate accounting for the business and their funds under management.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a small team and developing an efficient and well controlled financial control operation. The role involves working closely with Operations and a board of directors in order to control the accounting and statutory reporting for various entities.
Key responsibilities:
- Managing a team of 4 or 5 (including this role) which performs the following tasks:
- Review and on going enhancement to the financial control of the business and funds under management
- Management reporting
- Preparation of audit and year end financial statements
- Settlement of intercompany balances
- Performing analytical reviews of financial information on a monthly basis
- Oversight of third party administrators
The successful candidate must be a qualified Accountant and have proven track in managing a team. Exposure in asset management in an IFRS environment would be advantageous, particularly in the Alternatives area. Systems literacy and exposure to a finance function within a funds environment would be beneficial. Strong Excel skills essential.
