Development Lead / Head of IT - Hedge Fund
Robert Half Technology is seeking a very hands on Head of IT for international hedge fund in the West End of London. The fund has impressive year-on-year growth since inception, and reached $2bn AUM is looking to build more robust, scalable trading, analytics & risk systems to continue achieving consistent returns well above market average and achieve independence from platform providers. The Development Lead / Head of IT needs to be able to operate vertically to engage with senior stakeholders to principal/partner level and horizontally across multiple trading desks through to risk and back office to deliver solutions that enable the business to achieve its projected growth. The role could suite a Development Lead / Development Manager / Head of Development who is seeking a boarder role spanning infrastructure or Head of IT / CTO at a similar sized hedge fund who still operates at code level.
The Role
Key Responsibilities:
- The Development Lead / Head of IT will have ?complete ownership across application development & infrastructure and IT support teams in-house and via external providers.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with front and back office division heads to analyse their information and systems needs and build solutions through the development life cycle to meet these.
- Define the project roadmap and oversee delivery of development, infrastructure and other division projects.
- Manage relationships with all external technology application development and infrastructure vendors including root & branch review of their fit for future purpose.
- Define and monitor annual technology budgets.
- Evaluate risks and dependencies associated with current or anticipated technologies, along with a plan to develop contingency solutions to mitigate these as well as appropriate business continuity and disaster recovery mechanisms.
Essential Requirements:
- Smart, highly numerate and analytical, degree educated (or similar experience)
- Strong track record in a senior applications development role ideally with a hedge fund or potentially in investment bank
- Substantial hands on development experience with a major object oriented development language: Java, C++ and/or C#.
- Deep knowledge of OTC derivatives and/or fixed income products so as to build credibility with traders and risk managers
- Experience of IT infrastructure is highly desirable.
- Influencing and communications skills to operate to partner level

£90-110,,000 + bonus
